THE GARAGE BOARD SHOP WELCOMES YOU
Who We Are, What We Do & Who We Do It For
We are a non-profit organization with one goal; to guide the under-served and underprivileged youth in the inner-city towards the path of success. Trading skateboarding for education; we use an active lifestyle as the backbone to success in education. We aim to teach the youth to value education through our Skate-4-Education. We successfully accomplish this by motivating and awarding our kids with scholarships. While trying to make a difference in the lives of our youth we also wish to help better our community. The youth participate in various community outreach activities the shop is involved with. The youth learn the importance of recycling and use recycled goods from our environmental cleanups to their advantage. Turning a profit from the recycled material, and investing it into candy boxes they use to raise money towards trips, events, skate park maintenance, and skater scholarships. At The Garage Board Shop, well-being is at the forefront of what we’re working together towards. Our programs and activities are designed to be a catalyst that helps community members reach their goals and fulfill their potential. THE URBAN WAREHOUSE
The After-School Program That Changes Lives
Here at The Garage Board Shop, we’re committed to investing our expertise and resources into our youth. Since 2010, we’ve been supporting our community members in a variety of ways and measuring our success not by monetary size, but by more qualitative measurements such as the scale and effectiveness of our efforts. We welcome the kids into our home and bargain skating time with homework time. The program works on a point system, kids must turn in homework or report cards in exchange for points they can in-turn cash in for skateboards. We love skateboarding, it is at the soul of everything we do, but our priority is teaching kids the value of education.
Below is a trailer of a documentary that tells our story and youth story from our program.

SUMMER SMART CAMP
Every summer we hold a "Summer Smart Camp" dedicated to giving the members of our community "hands-on" experience. Each day of the week we focus on a different innovative ideas to build the participants confidence and comprehension up to its full potential. Our trips to museums and skateboard manufacturing companies increase our members understanding of not only where the boards they ride come from but the roots of their own communities as well. We cater to a diverse group and often use skateboarding as an incentive to teach them the value of their culture and their full potential.
BATTLE OF THE FLOW (BOTF)
Once a month we hold a local small skate competition for the youth. This allows the youth to experience a skateboarding competition, show case what they have learned, and meet other youth skaters. The majority of the members on our current skate team and our team members in the past have participated in our monthly competitions.
SUMMER NIGHT LIGHTS (SNL)
